Because Michael Myers is nowhere to be seen in this film, as he was in the earlier ones.
Halloween III: Season of the Witch was one of Carpenter and Hill's attempts to launch what could have become an anthology of sorts, with a new Halloween film each year around the holiday. It was a good idea, and I just wish they would have had more time to elaborate. Unfortunately, that wasn't to be.
As Halloween approaches, Dr. Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) finds himself embroiled in a peculiar case when an elderly patient with a mask is found killed at the hospital.
Dr. Challis travels to Santa Mira with the deceased man's daughter, Ellie (Stacey Nelkin). Silver Shamrock Company has sold millions of Halloween masks throughout the U.S. thanks to its strong marketing efforts (which include catchy jingles).
(The Silver Shamrock facility was inspired by a milk processing plant.)
In addition to that, they are advising children to watch a special Halloween night program while they are in their costumes. However, as Dr. Challis and Ellie investigate the subject further, they discover that the CEO of Silver Shamrock, Conal Cochran (played by Dan O'Herlihy), is planning something that would result in the deaths of thousands, and maybe even millions, of innocent people.
Myers, Dr. Loomis, Laurie, and Haddonfield are not associated with Halloween III: Season of the Witch. The original Halloween performance is just briefly seen on TV in the published here movie. Despite its variations from the prior two films, Halloween 3 is still a fun watch.
The connection to Stonehenge isn't exactly clear, but the movie does contain a few noteworthy and memorable sequences. Little Buddy, portrayed by Brad Schacter, is the first character we encounter in Silver Shamrock. On Halloween night, he put on a Silver Shamrock mask and watched a movie. Needless to say, things go out of control throughout the show, and mayhem follows. Conal Cochran gives a quick history lesson on Halloween's genuine origins.
I am a fan of the Halloween movies, particularly the flicks that followed Halloween 3: Season of the Witch and featured Michael Myers once more. Nonetheless, I can't help but ponder what tales may have been told if Carpenter and Hill had the opportunity to continue with their original series concept.
Even though I think people are to blame for not liking Halloween 3, I don't agree that the people who added "3" to the name of this movie are to blame.
Despite the fact that it is finished, the fact that I loved Halloween 3: Season of the Witch makes it harder for me to accept that Carpenter's plan was a simple blunder.
